Newborn Baby Photography Session - Isleworth
I was contacted by Kate and Verlain a few weeks before their baby girl was due to be born. Orginally they had no intention of getting any professional photos done of their baby, but when they saw some gorgeous photos of a friend's little baby they decided to look for a baby photographer - and they contacted me.
One of their friend's photos showed the baby posed in a galvanized metal bucket - Verlain was particularly taken with the picture and so asked if this might be possible. I checked out a local interiors and antiques shop in Balham, No 9 Antiques, and the owner said she had a couple of such buckets at her home.
When I arrived at Kate and Verlain's home in Iselworth, they loved the bucket I had got. So I then got out some different options of backgrounds, blankets and wraps that might look good with their little baby girl, Erin. They wanted the classic girly pink and had themselves and gorgeous sequined flower headband that matched.
Erin looked beautiful in the bucket with her dark hair. So we got a range of shots of her, both with and without the headband, as she slept peacefully in the bucket looking all snug.
Erin was still sleepy, so it was not hard to move her into the next posed shot. Kate had mentioned one of the shots on my website of a baby in a basket that had a rose petal filler in. We popped Erin into a lace nest and then into the basket with the filler. Such a delicate little flower.
Given a change and a feed we grabbed a few more posed shots of her sleeping on a little box they had before moving on to some more formal family shots against a plain white background. I particularly like one with Kate and her mother smiling at each other, with Erin in their arms and Verlain.
Having got a range of different family photos - with Verlain's parents also over from India for this special time, we then went to get some close up details of hands and feet.
Just a couple more posed shots, including a snug selection of Erin in a knitted hat nestled in a cosy blanket and it was then the end of the photo shoot.
